Coloring Book Carriers for Boys or Girls

\
This is a good gift for children who like to color. It is a carrier that holds coloring books, crayons, and has a pocket that is big enough to fit many other items too like pens, a book, color pencils and so much more.

Here is what you will need:
1/2 yard of a printed fabric
1/2 yard of a solid fabric
thread
sewing machine
velcro
Coloring book
crayons

First you need to cut two pieces of fabric. One piece from the solid fabric and one piece from the print.

These pieces should be long enough that you could place two coloring books on it with at least and inch in between. Also it should be about an inch wider than the length of the coloring book....

Next, you cut out the pieces for the crayon holder and the coloring book holder. The crayon holder should be about as wide as a crayon and as long as the big piece of fabric is wide. The coloring book holder should be just a little bit bigger than the coloring book......
You should cut out the pieces in both the print and the solid.

Now, sew each of the pieces together. When sewing, sew with right sides together and leave room to turn them right side out at the end.

After you get both of the pieces sewn together, place them on the solid piece of fabric like this.....
I added an additional pocket on the left hand side over the coloring book holder.

Now, pin everything in place....
The next step is to sew these pieces onto the solid piece of fabric....
After getting everything sewn into place, the next step is to sew vertical lines onto the crayon holder part like this....

Next, make your straps :)

After the straps are made, pin them where you want them.
Now, with the put the right sides of each piece together and sew them...

Now, turn your work right side out and stitch it closed. Then place your crayons and coloring book into the compartments.
Finally, add some velcro...
If you want to, you can add other decorations like glitter to spice it up a bit .....

Here are some other styles too....

Enjoy!
